Coastal Home Furnishings Inspired by the Salt, Sand and Sea...
Our Story
It's all in the Family
Thank you for visiting. Here is a little bit about us:
We're a family who grew up in the Hamptons before the Hamptons was considered chic. Our days were spent living & loving the surrounding waterways - from the salty marshes to the roaring waves of the Atlantic. Being a large, close-knit family, weekends and summers meant celebrating life on the beach with the entire family: grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles. Some cherished, early memories involve being on the water: whether it was boating, clamming, sailing, fishing, crabbing, surfing or anything else you can do near water.
Maybe it derived from our Swedish heritage, but as children, we developed a deep connection with the water.
We established early on, a love and yearning to be close to the sea water, sandy beaches and the salt air.
As the Swedish proverb goes:
"The cure for anything is Saltwater: sweat, tears or the sea."
With both parents involved in residential real estate, the love of home design became somewhat of a family obsession. We quickly discovered a deep passion for creating home interiors that not only looked beautiful and felt welcoming, but more importantly brought the essence of the sea inside. This desire to develop this concept, eventually led us on a search for the most special and unique nautical beach pieces, whether it be the style of furniture or the type of decor used. Our favorite initial home projects were where we utilized and incorporated the found coastal treasures. These home designs drew such an overwhelming response and interest in what we did, that we began developing a
future business called Our Boat House.
Since opening, we share our special nautical finds along with helping homeowners, as well as fellow designers, create a beach-style home that is comfortable for the entire family, provide an environment that nourishes the soul and establish a beautiful place where others can enjoy life just as if you too, were right on the water.
Thanks for visiting!
May you have fair winds and following seas.
