Choosing the Perfect Rug
Choosing the right rug can be a quite the undertaking. Follow this guide to take the stress and guessing out of finding the right size rug for your living space. The front legs of your sofa and chairs should fit on top of the rug. When in doubt, go big. Choosing a too-small rug can make your space feel smaller than it is. For gracious spaces, aim for a generously sized fit so all furniture sits completely within its borders. Always allow for 12"-18" between the rug and the walls to avoid the wall-to-wall carpet look.
For the Dining Area, refer to the size of the table. Whether the table is rectangular, square or round, the rug should extend at least 24 inches on all sides so when a guest pushed-back chair can still fit within its range. For Bedrooms, a nice option is for a a larger rug to fit under a king or queen bed and create a landing zone on either side. If the Master Bedroom is smaller, perhaps two small rugs on either side of the bed. For smaller bedrooms with two twin beds - large shared rug, a runner or a small rug between the two or small rugs on either side. With Kitchen & Entry Stick with a narrow runner placed between the sink and cooktop or the island and perimeter. You can opt for a petite area rug 24" x 36" or 36" x 60" for these areas. An Outdoor Area can have a bigger rug so you can cozy up a back porch by adding a Polypropylene rug that is 12", 18" to 24" shorter than the space’s perimeter. We realize that rooms come in different shapes and sizes, but that doesn't mean you should settle for an area rug with a wonky fit.
