How do I care for my outdoor fabric or my outdoor cushions ?
CARE & MAINTENANCE - OUTDOOR FABRICS At home cleaning is simple to maintain a fabric’s fresh appearance. However, if cleaning requires the assistance of a professional cleaner, be sure to inquire about a firm’s experience working with outdoor fabrics and knowledge of cleaning and re-treatment requirements. REMOVING MOLD AND MILDEW OUR OUTDOOR FABRICS do not promote mildew growth: however, mildew may grow on accumulated dirt if it’s not removed from the cushions. To remove mold or mildew: Prepare a solution of 1 cup of bleach and one fourth cup mild soap per gallon of water. Spray on entire area and allow to soak into the fabric for 15 minutes. Clean entire surface area with a sponge, clean towel or very soft bristle brush. Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue. Air dry. DO NOT PUT CUSHION CASING OR SLIPCOVER IN A DRYER. For severe mold/mildew growth, bleach quantities may be increased. It is best to clean the entire surface area of the fabric to avoid water rings and stains.
Will natural teak turn silver? Can I stop it?
Slow-growing and grade A plantation-raised teak is the finest grade of this most valuable tropical hardwood and it is what we use for our beautiful teak furniture. Teak is the best wood for luxury outdoor furniture due to its high oil content, which makes it stand up to extreme environmental conditions and insect and rot repellant. Our teak is responsibly sourced from re-forested teak plantations, meaning no natural teak forests are being damaged or diminished. We employ best-in-class construction techniques that include kiln drying, finger joinery and box joints. Together, all of this ensures that your product will withstand prolonged outdoor exposure. Teak is a low maintenance wood, and we recommend that you allow your furniture to age naturally. Its close, tight grain and abundance of natural oils make teak hard- wearing and highly resistant to rotting, sunshine, snow and rain. After prolonged exposure, teak’s original golden honey color will begin to transition to a soft and silvery gray. Natural teak shouldn’t be painted or sealed at home; it won’t adhere properly and will eventually peel off. CARE & MAINTENANCE - FRAMES Teak expands and contracts with changes in the environment. This movement can cause hairline cracks in the wood and at joint locations. This does not affect the structural integrity of the product and is not grounds for replacement. Due to the high oil content of teak wood, some of it will come to the surface of the product. This appears sometimes as streaks or spots that are brown or red in color. This is natural and unavoidable. As the oil evaporates over a period of months, it will subside. During this oil surfacing, you may notice oil stains on your cushions, particularly if they are light in color. The use of a wood protector will help mitigate some of the oil surfacing and fabric staining. CLEANING Minimal maintenance is required to keep teak wood looking good. Dust and dirt can collect on the furniture, and over time may turn into mildew. Depending on your environment, cleaning is suggested every 3-6 months. Routine cleaning is recommended every 3 months for warm, humid environments, and every 6 months for cool, dry climates. Periodically clean your furniture using water and a mild cleanser such as dish soap and a soft nylon brush. You may also use a teak cleaner
